I.W Seminar on Sat
This Saturdays seminar for Marcus Houston's class in Edinburgh is really 'something different'.
We're pretty much living in what Gabe Suarez terms 'a non permissive environment' when it comes to being able to carry any form of defensive tool. The thing is, because it's illegal for people to carry a weapon the scum & criminals of society have an easy time of it BECAUSE THEY KNOW WE'RE EASY PICKINGS! They carry weapons regardless of laws or penalities, thats what criminals do- they commit crimes; the rest of us are unarmed if we don't want to fall foul of the law.
Now, the truth is that armed self defence beats unarmed self defence any day of the week. Our goal is not to 'fight fairly upon the field of battle', our goal is to win ¬ to become another victim. For some strange reason our country has become conditioned by the PC lefty brigade to think that it is somehow wrong to win; that its wrong that you should seek an adavantage to allow you to survive an attack by some poor underprivilaged single parent heroin addicted binge drinking chav who wants to slash your face off with a stanley knife as part of their nights amusement.
Well, the way around this is to learn how to use the concepts from Tactical Edge to turn everyday objects into viable defensive tools. If you think of the skills Tactical Edge covers- Unarmed - Edged - Impact - flexible. Almost anything you pick up can slot into those categories. In Tactical Edge the body mechanics & movements we use in our unarmed methods mirror our skill-at-arms methods, so with a little bit of conceptualisation we can pick up anything & use it as an equaliser.
So on this seminar I need you to bring a few everyday items. A Coffee Mug. A Credit Card you don't mind messing up. A good strong Dog Leash (if you don't have one then a piece of rope or even bandanna will do). A robust glossy magazine (like mens health or playboy- joke). A sturdy pen (a sharpie pen is perfect). A tea spoon. A cheap & nasty metal fork (one that is easily bent). A walking stick, or a broom handle cut to walking stick length (a kali stick is a bit short).
We'll be working through these different items & applying them through the conceptual lens of Tactical Edge & ComTech. Its going to be a fun & light hearted course, but at the same time one that can teach you skills that could be life saving.
